From parents who have been
- Teach kids to look for a bushy, heart-shaped blow between the waves. Calm, flat days are much easier, and docents say there are no guarantees on any given day. Press Democrat
- Campbell Cove has a flat beach that gets big at low tide, which is good for small kids. Pair it with the 1-mile Bodega Head loop rather than the longer trail north. Sonoma County Tourism Bodega Head guide
- The Bodega Head bluffs are steep. Hold onto kids when someone is using binoculars, and stay behind the warning signs. Sonoma Magazine
- The marine lab tour is a good wet-day or high-tide backup. Kids can see a 24-foot tank of local fish with a small kelp forest, a harbor tank and a tide pool display. Marin Mommies calendar listing
